Hi. I am an award-winning writer, editor, facilitator, photographer and project consultant based in Victoria, B.C.
Currently I’m a most-of-the-time stay-at-home dad with two little boys.
I’m a facilitator and project consultant with MASS LBP, a leading civic engagement consulting firm that partners with forward-thinking institutions and organizations to enhance public participation in democratic processes–from urban planning and health care policy to transit, education, culture and more.
I’m a writer for the award-winning podcast Trailblazers, with Walter Isaacson.
I produce long- and short-form writing, editing and other communications projects for a select group of business, media and non-profit clients.
My journalism has appeared in The Walrus, This Magazine, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Reader’s Digest, Design Lines, Tokion, the Journal of the Harvard Mountaineering Club, the Ryerson Free Press, Trinity University Alumni Magazine, and more.
I was a winner of the 2012 Great Canadian Literary Hunt for Creative Non-fiction (sponsored by This Magazine), and was a resident at the Banff Centre’s Literary Journalism Program in July, 2013. Both writing projects emerged from my experience travelling in India and researching international and indigenous models of anti-poverty development, including the controversial practice of child sponsorship.
I’m a copy editor for Reader’s Digest Canada, and I volunteer on the Board of Directors of THIS Magazine–Canada’s leading independent publication of progressive politics, art and culture. I was a long-time communications and special projects manager at the National Magazine Awards.
Additionally, I have more than a decade of experience working in the international development and non-profit sector as a communications manager and project officer, in Canada as well as the Middle East, North Africa and India.
